How tires are manufactured?

The first stage of tire making is collecting raw materials and formulating rubber compounds. The raw materials used are rubber, oils, pigments, antioxidants, carbon black or silica, accelerators and other additives. These are then mixed together in a huge blender, which is called Banburys. After the mixing process is completed a gum like material forms. This material is then cut into strips.

These strips will make the sidewalls and other portions of the tire.

The main body of the tire is manufactured using fabricated rubber. Polyester, nylon and rayon are the fabrics used. The fabrics are changed depending on the type of the tire.
But mostly Polyester is used.

Another ring like component is used to make a tire. This is called tire bead. Steel wires of high tensile are used to make this tire bead.

Radial tires are made in a cylindrical tire-building machine. The machine almost gives the final shape of the tire.

After the making...

Wheels and Tires

Wheels are the circular disks or rings on which automobile tires are mounted. Wheels work in synchronization with an axle. The tire is a rubber ring filled with air that fits around the wheel of a vehicle. The wheel and tires move together with axle that allows low friction in motion by rolling.

There are two types of tires that can be mounted on wheels: pneumatic and solid.

Pneumatic tires are air-filled tires. They have holes in the rim, which makes mounting of wheel on hub easier. Pneumatic tires are good for traction as they can be easily adjusted by changing the air pressure. The tire will have larger traction when you reduce the air pressure because the contact path with the floor will be larger. However, with the reduced wheel diameter, the speed reduces and the torque or the pushing power goes up.

Pneumatic tires invariably involve risk of puncture as a disadvantage. On the other hand, solid tires are made from solid rubber or plastic. They are very...

Tires, Living Longer Lives

Your car's tires are those rubber things that serve as the in-between between your car and you and the wide open road. In fact, these tires actually give you much comfort than you expect them to give you. You do not feel much of the bumps and potholes on the road because of these tires.

With this in mind, it is important that you do take good care of your tires. In fact, you would not want to be driving a car that has worn out tires in it.

You see, having a car with worn out tires could lead to having a car suffering from major problems. Aside from this, your chances of meeting a flat tire or having one of your tires blow up would be much greater. That is why it is important for you to maintain them. In fact, the more you take good care of them, the more and the longer they will live.

At least once a month, you should check their pressure.

All tires should be checked. To be sure that you have put in the right amount of pressure, check...
